My birthday's coming up soon! I really should have had a list made by now... I've decided to ask for a dressform, so that I can really advance my sewing skills. I was going to ask for a dollzone doll, but I think that this is more important.... oh well. Another time. I'll also probably put a few little things on the list. Maybe some strapya phone accessories, or a coastal scents palette or something.

I just got out of school last week, and I've kind of been wasting time since then. Lurking about /cgl/ and tumblr, and re-watching Mononoke. ^///^ I really need to make some progress, both with sewing and with my college search.

Last time I posted I listed my "current inspirations"; in other words, things I'm really interested in right now. I like to keep a list to keep track of everthing, so I'm going to do that again here;
  • Jun Takahashi's designs, particularly this dress. Creepy monster vibes in airy, whimsical, almost antique-looking fabrics.
  • 18th Century Automatons
  • Japanese Aidoru culture
  • W, Minimoni, Morning Musume, but mostly their songs from early-mid 2000's.
  • Embroidery
  • Toshiaki Kato
  • Gone with the Wind
  • Things made out of tulle, chiffon, moire (watered) silk, or velvet
  • Chopines
I'm thinking about changing up the layout of this LJ since it doesn't quite suit me anymore, but it seems tiresome... so maybe not...(  ' - ')

This secret on [info]loli_secret got me thinking today. Someone suggested building an lolita wardrobe, composed entirely of handmade replicas, each lovelier than the last. I love this idea, except, I don't want them to all be replicas. I don't even really want to confine it to "lolita" pieces . I want it to be something distinctly "me". (Though what is "distinctly me" does change from day to day.)

Current fashion inspirations:
  • Minky Momo
  • Creamy Mami
  • Edward Gorey illustrations
  • Old school lolita
  • Gunne Sax (70's Renaissance revival brand)
  • John Galliano for Dior
  • 17th Century France
  • Seifuku (Or anything with sailor collars, really.)
  • Riyoko Ikeda illustrations
  • Leather masks
  • Venetian masks
  • fehyesvintagemanga.tumblr.com
I could really go on for ever.None of these things really fit together into a cohesive aesthetic, but I love them all.

I'm supposed to be reading this book "Ethan Frome" for school, it's winter-break-homework. I was gonna try to read the whole thing in one day, said day being today. It is 1:35 PM and I have so far accomplished staring at the first page, for about fifteen minutes. My mind wanders to various subjects, including debating which kind of headdress suits my facial structure best, trying to remember the difference between a tangerine and a clementine, and hey what is it with hipsters and Zooey Deschanel. So I think I will throw myself an "Ethan Frome ReAdInG pArTy!¡!¡". Attendees so far include:
  • Myself
  • "Ethan Frome" by Edith Wharton
  • A Bowl of Corn Chips
I bet you wish you were here, anonymous reader. Dis shit iz gonna be OFF DA HOOK~ Maybe Kanye will show up!!!

Much ruv,
